Here is a list of important Mercedes Benz E-Class dashboard warning lights indicators on your vehicle and their respective meanings and responsive actions that you should take in that particular situation:
Seat Belt Reminder warning light

This indicator comes on when you turn the ignition switch to the ON position. It reminds you and your passengers to fasten your seat belts. A beeper also sounds if you have not fastened your seat belt.
Low Oil Pressure warning light

This telltale indicates low engine oil pressure. If the telltale turns on while driving, stop the vehicle and shut off the engine as soon as possible. The engine can be severely damaged if this indicator flashes or stays on when the engine is running, or if a ‘‘CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL’’ message is on the multi-information display. Do not operate the vehicle until the cause is corrected. This telltale does not indicate how much oil is in the engine.
NOTICE: Do not use the vehicle until the failure has been solved. The turning on of the telltale does not indicate the amount of oil in the engine: the oil level can be checked on the display upon entering the vehicle and also by activating the “Oil level” function on the Information and Entertainment System.
Engine Coolant temperature too high warning light

The telltale lights up when the engine has overheated.
In normal driving conditions:
Stop the car, turn off the engine and check that the coolant level in the reservoir is not below the MIN mark.
In this case, wait for the engine to cool down, then slowly and carefully open the cap, fill with coolant and check that the level is between the MIN and MAX marks on the reservoir itself. Also check visually for any fluid leaks. Contact an authorized dealer if the telltale comes on when the engine is started again. If the vehicle is used under demanding conditions (e.g. in high-performance driving): slow down and, if the warning light stays on, stop the vehicle. Stop for 2 or 3 minutes with the engine running and slightly accelerated to facilitate better coolant circulation, then turn the engine off. Check that the coolant level is correct as described above.
Charging System warning light

This indicator has two functions:
1. If it comes on when the engine is running, the battery is not being charged, and you will see a ‘‘CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM’’ message on the multi-information display.
2. This indicator also comes on when the battery needs to be replaced along with a “REPLACE BATTERY” message on the multi-information display.
Parking Brake and Brake System warning light

This light monitors various brake functions, including brake fluid level and parking brake application. If the brake light turns on it may indicate that the parking brake is applied, that the brake fluid level is low, or that there is a problem with the anti-lock brake system reservoir. If the light remains on when the parking brake has been disengaged, and the fluid level is at the full mark on the master cylinder reservoir, it indicates a possible brake hydraulic system malfunction or that a problem with the Brake Booster has been detected by the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) / Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system.
Automatic Transmission Temperature warning light

This indicator monitors the temperature of the automatic transmission fluid. It should come on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition switch to the ON position. If it comes on while driving, it means the transmission fluid temperature is too high. Pull to the side of the road when it is safe, shift to Park, and let the engine idle until the indicator goes out. You will also see an ‘‘A/T TEMP HIGH’’ message on the multi-information display.
NOTICE: Continuing to drive with the A/T temperature indicator on may cause serious damage to the transmission.
Automatic transmission Failure warning light

The telltale turns on, together with a buzzer warning, to indicate that the automatic transmission is faulty. Contact an authorized dealer as soon as possible.
Supplemental Restraint System warning light

This indicator comes on briefly when you turn the ignition switch to the ON position. If it comes on at any other time, it indicates a potential problem with your front airbags. This indicator will also alert you to a potential problem with your side airbags, passenger’s side airbag automatic cutoff system, side curtain airbags, automatic seat belt tensioner driver’s seat position sensor, the front passenger’s weight sensors, or, on models with CMBS, seat belt e-pretensions. You will also see a ‘‘CHECK AIRBAG SYSTEM’’ message on the multi-information display.
Door/Tailgate Open warning light

You will also see a ‘‘CHECK EMISSION SYSTEM’’ message on the multi-information display.
The possible reasons for it coming on number in the hundreds and only your dealer or authorized service center can properly address them. However, remember that a loose or missing gas cap will cause the light to come on.

This indicator comes on when you turn the ignition switch to the ON position. If it comes on at any other time, it indicates that the passenger’s side airbag has automatically shut off. You will also see a ‘‘PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG OFF’’ message on the multi-information display.
Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) warning light

This indicator normally comes on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and when the ignition switch is turned to the START position. If this indicator comes on at any other time, there is a problem in the ABS. If this happens, take the vehicle to your dealer to have it checked. With this indicator on, your vehicle still has normal braking ability but no anti-lock function. You will also see a ‘‘CHECK ABS SYSTEM’’ message on the multi-information display.
Low Tire Pressure / TPMS warning light

This indicator normally comes on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition switch to the ON position. This indicator has two functions:
1. If it comes on while driving, it indicates that one or more of your vehicle’s tires are significantly low on pressure.
You will also see a ‘‘CHECK TIRE PRESSURE’’ message on the multi-information display. Check the tire pressure monitor on the multi-information display and determine the cause.
If this happens, pull to the side of the road when it is safe, check which tire has lost pressure on the multi-information display, and determine the cause. If it is because of a flat tire, have the flat tire repaired as soon as possible. If two or more tires are underinflated, call a professional towing service.
2. If this indicator begins to flash, there is a problem with the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). You will also see a ‘‘CHECK TPMS SYSTEM’’ message on the multi-information display. The indicator continues to flash for a while (approximately 1 minute), then stays on. If this happens, have your dealer check the system as soon as possible.
Blind Spot Information System (BSI) warning light

On models with blind spot information system (BSI)
This indicator normally comes on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
The BSI indicator also comes on if the rear bumper becomes dirty while driving. You will see a ‘‘BLIND SPOT NOT AVAILABLE’’ message on the multi-information display.
When you clean the rear bumper, the indicator should go off after you begin driving again. When you turn the system on, the indicator will turn off.
If the indicator comes on at any other time, there is a problem with BSI.
For more Mercedes Benz E-Class dashboard warning lights indicators check the Owner Manual.
You will also see a ‘‘CHECK BLIND SPOT SYSTEM’’ message on the multi-information display. If this happens, take your vehicle to a dealer, and have it checked.
When this indicator is on, BSI is not working.

The left or right turn signal indicator blinks when you signal a lane change or turn. If an indicator does not blink or blinks rapidly, it usually means one of the turn signal bulbs is burned out. Replace the bulb as soon as possible, since other drivers cannot see that you are signaling. When you press the hazard warning button, both turn signal indicators and all turn signals on the outside of the vehicle flash.
